Microsoft se lance dans VoIP avec Office Communication Server 2007
Microsoft a lancé en Suisse son nouveau logiciel “Office Communication Server 2007“, a annoncé jeudi 4 octobre son P-DG Steve Ballmer, permettant au géant américain de se placer dans le créneau lucratif de la téléphonie sur internet (VoIP). La nouvelle version pour entreprises du logiciel Office est distribuée depuis jeudi en avant-première mondiale en Suisse. “Office Communication Server 2007″ et “Office Communicator 2007″ seront commercialisés dans le reste du monde dans deux semaines.
Le logiciel a été partiellement développé en Suisse par la société zurichoise MediaStreams, rachetée en 2006 par Microsoft, Le nouvel Office permettra de disposer d’un logiciel englobant la messagerie instantanée, avec une version professionnelle de Windows Live Messenger renommée “Communicator”. La nouvelle mouture du logiciel à succès Office permettra également de converser en audio par VoIP, au moyen d’un téléphone de bureau compatible. Il permettra enfin d’organiser des conférences audio ou vidéo.
De plus, avec ce nouveau logiciel pour professionnels, le groupe américain se retrouve en concurrence directe avec les équipementiers de télécommunications, les américains Avaya et Cisco, le canadien Nortel et Alcatel-Lucent.
Selon Infonetics Research, les ventes mondiales de Microsoft dans le marché des communications unifiées ont progressé de 21% à 363 millions de dollars (257 millions d’euros) en 2006. Une croissance à deux chiffres devrait se poursuivre jusqu’en 2010.

Ils sont un peu à la bourre là… du côté d’IBM des solutions identiques, voir certainement mieux intégrée à d’autres solutions profesionnelles existent depuis environ 3 ans.
Je veux bien entendu parler de : Notes/Domino/Sametime.
Notes qui, dans sa version actuelle (8), intègre en plus des outils de productivités (Lotus Symphony).
Ca va être la grosse guéguerre ;)
